The University of Hong Kong is thrilled to announce the commencement of submissions for the highly anticipated HKU Music Festival 2025! This event serves as a platform for talented HKU students to showcase their musical creativity and original compositions to a live audience.
The HKU Music Festival 2025 invites all current HKU students, both undergraduate and postgraduate, to submit their original musical works across various genres, from classical melodies to contemporary pop, encompassing Chinese opera to Broadway musicals. This diverse range of musical styles ensures that every student can express their creativity in a genre they are passionate about.
The festival offers an exciting opportunity for participants to have their talents recognized. Twelve outstanding performers will be selected to showcase their compositions live at the festival in February 2025. Each winner will receive an award of HKD $8,000, celebrating their musical excellence and dedication.
To be eligible for consideration, submissions must adhere to the following guidelines:
Each entry should be an original musical composition.
The duration of the composition must fall within the range of 3 to 8 minutes.
Applicants can submit individual works or collaborate with a group of peers.
Submissions should include an audio and visual recording of the complete music piece, along with an electronic copy of the score in PDF format.
A brief description of the creative concept behind the piece, in approximately 250 words, is required.

Important Dates: Deadline for submissions: October 31, 2024 Applicants will be notified of the results by email in early December 2024.
